Pin Ups

I love Pin up girls! When someone asks me what beauty is, I often name my favorite pin ups.

Betty Grable - The number 1 pin up girl of the WWII era

Marilyn Monroe - The Blonde Bombshell

Jane Russell - I think the reason I like her so much is because my grandmother looked a lot like her when she was younger.

Audrey Hepburn - More of a movie star than a pin up, but just as beautiful...and she was in one of my favorite movies of all time, Sabrina.

And my favorite pin up of all...Bettie Page!

These women were seen as the most beautiful women of their time, a time when women were supposed to have natural curves. None of them have breasts that look like they were bolted on their chest, none of them have botched nose jobs, there is not a cheek or chin implant to speak of. Sadly, with the exception of Audrey Hepburn, in today's world they would be looked at as fat. I read an article once that had a picture of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe that a cosmetic surgeon had marked up as to what he would do to these women to make them "perfect" Under Marilyn's picture he had lipo (on the hips, waist, arms and chin.) Under Audrey's picture, he would have done a nose job, breast implants and I think lipo on her hips. There were other "modifications" that he said he would make but I don't remember them. So, I will leave you with this...

What do you find beutiful

Sista in the last pic needs a cheeseburger STAT! I think it's sad that volumptuous women aren't revered like they once were. These stick figures they have walking around as famous role models make me sick. What happened to just being HEALTHY?

Even though Britney Spears gets all this flack about being a cow, I bet you we'd think she looked just fine if we met her in person. Although she does wear unflattering outfits that emphasize parts that are no longer like her pre-childbirthing days...but poor fashion sense shouldn't be mistaken for fat! I guarantee she's thinner than most of the "everyday" people who talk smack about her weight gain. I think last I heard, she is about a size 5/6. That by no means is FAT!!! That is, unless she's 4'3", then she may very well be as wide as she is tall... Not that I'm a big Brit supporter, but you get the idea of where I'm coming from.

We live in a society of self loathing, self opinoniated muppets and most of the time its an unhealthy combination. I agree that the sex sirens back then where GORGEOUS, beauty however is in the eye of the beholder. I'm fairly small and I get stick for it, family, friends, complete strangers I just wish for one day everyone would just love themselves and others for what and who they are. We can wish can't we!!! xx
